What is 1080p? – Samsung LN52B750 LCD HDTV Breakdown

by Phil Edgar

The Samsung LN52B750 52 inch 1080p LCD HDTV is Samsung’s latest and greatest 52 inch LCD HDTV. HDTV stands for High Definition Television and incorporates a few excellent qualities to provide high definition images for its watchers.

The Samsung LN52B750 comes with 1080p resolution. This is a grey area when it comes to finding the best HDTV for most people as they don’t really know what 1080p even is!

1080p means 1080 “progressive scans”. A progressive scan is a vertical line of reslolution on your TV screen. 1080p is now the highest screen quality available to buy since 720p.

If you can imagine a mobile phone camera, which typically have much much lower “pixels” than a digital camera. You don’t get as high quality images from them and that is exactly why. The same goes for High Definition televisions – the more progressive scans it has, the more pixels it has, and the higher the image quality.

If you can imagne that your TV screen has a massive invisible grid on it with hundreds of thousands of squares, (or “pixels”) and in each of the squares are the colors which make up the images. Each grid will have a different color and your pictures will be shown clearly (as they are every day).

If you took this grid away and replaced it with a new grid of lots more, smaller pixels, this would make the images of your HDTV much sharper, as there would be many more pixels than before.

Assuming you’re watching a 1080p screen with 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, your TV will have 1080 lines of vertical resolution and 1920 lines of horizontal resolution. That is a heck of a lot of pixels to watch a movie or TV show on – two million, seventy three thousand and six hundred to be exact!

So in conclusion, the more progressive scans your HDTV has, the more pixels it will have, and the more pixels it has, the clearer and sharper the images will be. 1080p is the pinnacle of HDTV technology and the sharpest picture quality money can possibly buy.

As you well know, the Samsung LN52B750 52 inch LCD HDTV comes with 1080p – And I must say, 52 inches of crystal clear image is absolutely mind blowing!
